Change of emulsifier

At Green Wyse we do our utmost to keep up to date with constantly changing availability of ingredients, monitoring ethical conditions carefully. It came to our notice earlier this year that the emulsifier we had used for several years can no longer be guaranteed palm oil free (previously made with coconut oil and corn), suddenly being labelled as coconut or palm oil derived.

Obviously this was completely unacceptable, and so whilst our precious existing supply of coconut emulsifier dwindled we spent six months searching for, and trying out different emulsifiers which all met our ethical criteria;

No palm oil, vegan, not derived from petrochemicals, nothing synthetic, ethically and sustainably produced ..and also user friendly and good for the skin.

Many, many months, sleepless nights, a shelf full of failed experiments later (jars of separated creams, rock solid ‘creams’, sticky gloopy messes)…we finally found one that fulfilled all of the above, and also worked well, felt good on the skin and contributed to a healthy nourished skin.

We are happy to say that Simulgreen (scientific name Hydroxystearyl alcohol & hydroxystearyl glucoside – try saying that ten times!) is our beautiful new emulsifier, and we believe it creates even better quality creams, lotions and butters than before. We hope you like it.

Limited edition luxury face cream with proven anti-wrinkle benefits

On occasion I am asked to create bespoke products and creams for people with allergies to certain ingredients such as nut oils or seed oils. These are made specifically for the person and not available for general sale. However, I am offering my latest bespoke face cream to those who request it individually until the batch runs out.

This cream is a special blend of herbal and natural oils, as all my products are, but this is especially luxurious as it contains speedwell herbal extract, proven to reduce wrinkles, cold pressed rosehip oil, jojoba oil and a touch of neroli oil creating a rich but easily absorbed gentle cream helping maintain natural moisture in the skin and nourishing the tissues at a deep level.

The ingredients are: rosehip oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, speedwell herbal extract in a small amount of organic grain alcohol, vegetal natural emulsifier (corn and coconut based and extracted without solvents) geogard eco-cert preservative, citric acid and neroli essential oil. Nothing else.

The cost is £15 for a 30ml airless pump bottle, plus postage if needed at £2. Please contact me direct if you wish to order. Available only until stocks run out. 07962 664294  info@greenwyse.co.uk

How to care for your skin in cold weather

This cold weather plays havoc with your skin, the cooler temperatures make capillaries shrink so less nutrients and oxygen reach the surface, sometimes leading to dry, flaky and patchy skin. We wrap ourselves tightly in layers of clothing necessary to keep warm, but this doesn’t allow the skin to breathe.

Treat your skin to a good exfoliation with a natural product, or a soft brush or dry flannel. Then nourish it with a natural moisturiser, perhaps a bit more rich than one you would use in summer to give extra protection, especially on your face which is more exposed than anything to the weather. You will feel a natural glow and your skin will benefit, and don’t forget the skin is an important organ of elimination of toxins, so this will improve the function too.

Keep an eye out for my 2016 events list coming up soon.
