The Hawthorn Practice is run by Dawn Ireland, the Torbay Herbalist. Dawn has a BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine and is a member of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners and the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy. She has a background in herbal horticulture, botany, and teaching natural product making workshops.

As well as natural herbal remedies, Dawn has been creating handmade botanical skincare, made using plant based ingredients, essential oils and herbal extracts since 2003.

Dispensary & Clinic

The Hawthorn Practice is open  Monday to Friday by appointment. Saturdays can be accommodated on request.

We are located at:

Office 10, 3rd Floor, Castle Circus House, 136 Union Street, Torquay, TQ2 5QG

There is public parking available nearby & we’re easily reachable by public transport. There is also a lift, allowing for disabled access.

Workshops & Wild Walks

Our hedgerows, coast paths, and woodlands are filled with wild medicinal plants if you know where to look.

Dawn holds regular herb walks identifying our natural pharmacy in the wild, discussing ways to safely use them for treating common ailments. A relaxing stroll spending a couple of hours finding out about our medicinal heritage.
